Highlights of Ireland

DAY 1:TORONTO – LONDON – SHANNON

Depart Montreal this evening on a wide-bodied overnight flight bound for Ireland.

DAY 2: LONDON – SHANNON – LIMERICK (D)

In London you will connect on a flight to Shannon. After clearing immigration and customs, you will be met, escorted to your private coach and transferred to Limerick, the capital of the Shannon region. Before you check in to the hotel, take an orientation tour highlighted by St. Mary’s Cathedral and King John’s Castle.

This evening you will enjoy a Medieval dinner at Bunratty Castle.

DAY 3: LIMERICK – KILLARNEY (B/D)

This morning you will visit Bunratty Castle, the most complete and authentic castle in Ireland. Built in 1425 by Sieda MacConmara, by 1550 it became the stronghold of the O’Briens, Kings then later Earls of Thomond. Within its grounds, is Bunratty Folk Park, where Irish village life at the turn of the century is recreated.

Continue on to Killarney where you will have dinner and overnight.

DAY 4: KILLARNEY (B)

Today you will enjoy a panoramic drive around the island’s southwestern tip known as the “Ring of Kerry”. You will also have the opportunity to take photos of the three famous Lakes of Killarney from Ladies View. Return to Killarney for overnight.

DAY 5: KILLARNEY – BLARNEY – CORK (B/D)

Travel across the Kerry Mountains to Blarney, renowned for its magical Stone of Eloquence. Tradition has it that once kissed, the stone bestows the gift of eloquence. After lunch on your own, visit Blarney Castle. Continue on to Cork where you will have dinner and overnight.

DAY 6: CORK – WATERFORD (B/D)

Start with a brief orientation tour of Cork and proceed to Waterford. Upon arrival, visit the world famous Waterford Crystal Factory. The balance of your day is at leisure. Dinner and overnight in Waterford.

DAY 7: WATERFORD – WEXFORD – DUBLIN (B/D)

Today you will travel north to Dublin. Stop at the ancient town of Wexford which is lively and picturesque with narrow cobbled stone streets and quaint pubs. Continue on to Dublin on the River Liffey, passing through New Ross (the late President Kennedy’s grandfather was born nearby), Enniscorthy, Arklow, lovely Avoca, and Bray. Dinner and overnight in Dublin.

DAY 8: DUBLIN (B)

A guided sightseeing tour of Dublin includes a visit to the 16th century Trinity College which houses the famous 1,200-year-old Book of Kells, the world’s most beautifully illustrated manuscript. Also visit St Patrick’s Cathedral and see O’Connell Street, City Hall, Georgian Squares and Phoenix Park.

Remainder of the afternoon is at leisure. Overnight in Dublin.

DAY 9: DUBLIN (B)

Entire day at leisure for personal sightseeing.

This evening you may want to attend a live theatre performance at the famous Abbey Theatre (extra cost).

DAY 10: DUBLIN – TORONTO (B)

Transfer to the airport for your flight back to Toronto arriving the same day.
